A estreita entrada: lembrança do passado do estádio

ENGLISH VERSION
Only the third english football competition, Carling Cup, the League Cup, doesn´t attract everyone, especially the top clubs who use reserve teams and test new players. For me, however, is the opportunity to watch a game at Loftus Road, in London, and a different competition. More than the desire to visit the stadium, is the possibility to watch a game between two teams that attract less spotlight, the owner of the stadium, Queens Park Rangers, newly promoted to the Premier League, and Rochdale, now in League One, the third division.

Located in Shephered's Bush, Loftus Road is much more than friendly. With capacity for 18,500 fans, has a very different architecture from the outside – for me, more like an office building than a stadium when reached the South Africa Road, entry of players and managers. In facts, it happens naturally, with idols leaving the stadium at the same time of fans.

Despite being not a big game, respect the fan is kept as if in a decision. The police maintain order and the way from the subway (White City Station) to the stadium is short and well marked. Near, on the way to Loftus Road, a beautiful building of the BBC.

The entrance, at an affordable price (15 pounds) was purchased online with the option to collect it in the stadium. The organization is such that an envelope with all the details and the name of the buyer is available on the stadium. No bureaucracy, no errors or problems. Practical, fast and secure.

Beside the box where I collected my ticket, a beautiful store with various products of QPR, very busy with many options for fans. In the store, I got my match program for 2 pounds with lots of information about the match, QPR, the opponent and special articles about the home team.

Inside, bars and corridors clean, options of food and beer - that can’t be taken to the stands. It´s consumed especially by fans before the game and at halftime. The stadium still retains narrow entrances, which gives to the place a special character.

Clean on the inside, the seats have the name of the fans. With a screen that shows high definition historical images of the club, Loftus Road is a stadium where you can watch the matches closely, but it is not perfect. As can be seen at the photo above, he has places where it´s hard to see the players. Below the photo, a short video gives an idea of the stadium and the distance to the pitch.

Erected in 1904 and used by QPR since 1917 - the club, founded in 1882, played until 1917 at the Park Royal - Loftus Road was expanded over the years and offered 35,300 places at a match against Leeds in 1974, before is to bring the rules of the Taylor Report and have seating for all fans. The stadium now has all the chairs numbered and only allow fans sitting.

The Queens Park Rangers had his greatest moment in the 1975/1976 season, when he was runner-up in first division in England, the position also reached in the FA Cup, the second most important competition of the country, in 1981/1982. To get an idea of the importance of Loftus Road and the difficult to play there, the team hasn’t lost any match at home when he was runner-up.

The trophy of League Cup 1966/1967, the third tournament in England, is in the trophy room of the club, the current champion of the Championship, the second division. The return to the Premier League broke a long time away from the top, since 1995/1996. After this season, QPR came to fall to the third division, where stayed three seasons.
